Young people are not all academic, we need to recognise and encourage those compelled to interact with digital technology into programming, coding, App-making etc to ensure a future for both them and the industry. We can promote new skills and opportunities -as a potential job or just for interest and/or passion and also address a potential skills shortage in the UK.
Aside from the many y/people on the estate and in our youth club, I have a fantastic God Son, who doesn't find school easy. He can erect complex 3D models in hours and questions how everything works. Unlike most of us he is not merely a consumer and user of games and other technologies, but wants to know how to change and create them.
I am no IT mentor, but I am willing to help.
I manage a v successful resident-led charity in a recognised area of disadvantage, high Benefit take-up & youth under-achievement. I have offered space for free, to interest, mobilise & engage y/people in fun & creative Digital making & interaction
