Stuff happens. So check this page regularly to see if the event details have been revised, or if you need to update your RSVP. One thing hasn't changed though: it's still just AED 20 if you want to join us on the evening. With that out of the way, here's what we currently have slated for Tuesday:
Discussion Topic: Abdalla Kroosh's Time Machine (Abdalla Kroosh)
Abdalla is a commissioning engineer for offshore petroleum projects whose photography expertise includes panoramas, time lapse sequences, and landscapes. This week, he will talk to us about action photography. Have you ever wondered how to freeze motion, create a motion blur, put together an action sequence where your subject appears multiple times in the same frame, or generally make it look as though you can bend time and space using your camera? This is your chance to learn the tricks and dazzle your friends.
For this week we will have 2 members showcasing their photos
(Muhib Al Abed)
Student in the University of Sharjah will be sharing some of his best shots where he will be focusing on abstract photography
photographer from Melbourne, Australia, which is now temporarily moved to Dubai, UAE. Into aviation photography, nature (landscape), animals,
portraits and newborns.
For this section, members show us 10 to 12 of their best shots, and answer questions about them. Want to try your hand at this in the future? Talk to an organizer.
The Tuesday tip (Ashraf Jandali)
Want advice on how to improve your photographs? Ashraf's here to help.
Photo Competition (Theme: Children)
Please send us two of your images by email ([masked]) by 5 PM on the day of the event, or bring your photos to the event on a USB thumb drive. To make our lives easier, please rename the files so that they have your name in them, e.g. Ahmed1.JPG and Ahmed2.JPG. We all vote on who has done the best job, and the winner gets a prize. Please note that if you don't show up, or pass your photos to the organizers on time, your shots will not be eligible for a prize.
We will be meeting in Studio Attitude in Al Quoz, in the same series of warehouses as Botanica. If you need help figuring out how to get there, check out the location map, or make use of the GPS coordinates [masked],[masked]). More information on the venue can be found on their site or at 04 3384114.
We also have YouTube videos showing you how to get there from Sheikh Zayed Road, with detailed text directions posted underneath. This one shows the way if you are coming from the direction of the World Trade Centre and Dubai Mall, and this one depicts the way from the direction of Abu Dhabi, the marina, and Al Barsha.
