The Sharper Image (EPyC Biweekly meetup sponsored by FujiFilm)

Stuff happens. So check this page regularly to see if the event details have been revised, or if you need to update your RSVP. One thing hasn't changed though: it's still just AED 20 if you want to join us on the evening. With that out of the way, here's what we currently have slated for Tuesday:

Discussion Topic: The Sharper Image (Jason)
Do you ever take shots that seem fine on your camera's LCD screen, but blurry on your monitor? Have you ever wondered what you could do make your own shots razor sharp, like the ones you see from the pros? Do you want to take shots with plenty of detail, even when you zoom in? Then make sure you come by to watch Jason's presentation on creating sharp images.

Member showcase (Akbar)
For this section, members show us 10 to 12 of their best shots, and answer questions about them. Want to try your hand at this in the future? Talk to an organizer.

The Tuesday tip (Ashraf Jandali)
Want advice on how to improve your photographs? Ashraf's here to help.

Photo Competition (Theme: Automobiles)
Please send us two of your images by email ([masked]) by 5 PM on the day of the event, or bring your photos to the event on a USB thumb drive. To make our lives easier, please rename the files so that they have your name in them, e.g. Ahmed1.JPG and Ahmed2.JPG. We all vote on who has done the best job, and the winner gets a prize. Please note that if you don't show up, or pass your photos to the organizers on time, your shots will not be eligible for a prize.

We will be meeting in Studio Attitude in Al Quoz, in the same series of warehouses as Botanica. If you need help figuring out how to get there, check out the location map, or make use of the GPS coordinates [masked],[masked]). More information on the venue can be found on their site or at 04 3384114.

We also have YouTube videos showing you how to get there from Sheikh Zayed Road, with detailed text directions posted underneath. This one shows the way if you are coming from the direction of the World Trade Centre and Dubai Mall, and this one depicts the way from the direction of Abu Dhabi, the marina, and Al Barsha.

To put it bluntly... The Meetup would've deserved 5 Stars, had we discussed/ demonstrated about HOW to take sharper pictures, what common mistakes are and how to avoid them etc. A slide show, if added would've been of huge help too, to show real world samples of excellent photos that were spoilt just because xyz precautions were not taken blah blah blah

    September 22, 2014

    • Jason

I agree with you Rajesh that there is always a scope for improvement and I dread the day when we are perfect and you would have only praises for us, cos then we would nothing new to learn and improve... :)

if anyone is interested to meet again, in a small group and want to discuss this topic... please do let me know...

It has to be a group not larger than 15 people... and only serious photographers must attend...

Because if we have people commiting to come and do not turn up... the effort will be wasted...

    what do you think
