-Final Update (Saturday, March 23 @9:40am)-
~Mileage to Hilary's from Tunney's Pasture is about 80km. It should take about an hour to get there. See you all tomorrow at noon!
Our meeting time will be noon-12:15pm at the same location as before the Bancroft trip- at the Tunney's Pasture parking lot- so as to collect the $10 from attendees, sign a thank you card for Hilary, and pass out the map and driving instructions to drivers.
The parking lot is situated at the CORNER OF PARKDALE AVE. AND GOLDENROD DRIVEWAY, close to the Parkway and the river. You can drive into it directly off of Parkdale without having to enter the Tunney's Pasture complex itself. It is across the street from the Embassy of Indonesia, and just before the Parkway overpass. Please Google map this location so that you know where you are going on the day of the trip.
*We will leave at 12:30pm sharp*
Since we are leaving Ottawa at lunchtime, and Hilary's before dinnertime, just have snacks for the road in case you get hungry.
If you are carpooling with someone, please make sure you have money on hand to pass to the driver in case gas needs to be put into their car before leaving town. I'll send more information about the mileage, and therefore cost of gas as I get it from Hilary.
UPDATE~ Wow! More great news--Hilary has just said she doesn't mind not capping the attendee limit- so we're open again, and all those of you on the wait list are automatically RSVPd now.
Thank you Hilary!
DATE IS NOW SET FOR SUNDAY, MARCH 24, 2013 @ 12 NOON.
Great news! We have been invited to visit the tire home of Hilary, who is now one of our group members. You may remember meeting Hilary at Karen's 'Show and Tell and Potluck Dinner' a few weeks ago.
She lives in the Lanark Highlands, 50 minutes west of Ottawa. Since it's not anything as far away as our recent trip to Bancroft, this would be about a half-day road trip.
We can carpool again, and split on the gas costs, but I'm going to respectfully say that I'd like to stay out of the arrangements this time and let you all take care of these yourselves, LOL!! Anyone who can provide rides for others, just mention it in the comments section, same for those of you who need rides, and hopefully you can all find one another.
As with the Potters' visit, we shall collect $10 from each attendee for an honourarium for Hilary's idea to purchase a community cement mixer for use on a future project.
(Kids under 16 can come for free, and no refunds, as payment will be collected only on the day of travel if you come).
Another great learning opportunity has been offered to us... Another example of tire home living. Let's get back on the road and explore together again.
For those of you who didn't make the first road trip, here's your chance.
Older and newer members, welcome ~Let's get to know one another!
