If you're not familiar with this Oakland cemetery, you should be. For one, it's truly beautiful - designed by Frederick Law Olmstead, the architect who also designed Central Park and much of Stanford and UC-Bky. Two, it's hilly and a nice way to get some exercise; there's a great view of downtown Oakland and SF from the top. Three, it's a fun way to learn about our local history - you'll see names like Crocker, Haight, Bechtel, and Ghiradelli on "Millionaires' Row".
This docent-led tour will focus on the Gold Rush and the Transcontinental Railroad.
Afterwards, we can go get Mexican food (great fish tacos) at Baja Tacos on Piedmont Avenue.
