2377 Shattuck Ave, Berkeley, CA
Let's go to the Berkeley City Club to see the play Ages of the Moon, a Sam Shepard play put on by Anton's Well Theatre company. We will meet first for dinner at 6:15 at La Note, then after dinner walk up the street to the Berkeley City Club to see the play at 8 pm.
I currently have a reservation for 6 people at the restaurant, but if more people want to come, I can try to increase the number.
Update: the signup filled so fast, I have bought two more tickets and increased the dinner reservation to 8.
The Play Anton’s Well Theater Company presents Ages of the Moon by Sam Shepard. Starring David Cramer as Ames and Don Wood as Byron. This Bay Area Premiere captures the essential Sam Shepard: intoxicating language, rambunctious comedy, the meaning of friendship, and a rueful appreciation of the confounding world we live in.
The Restaurant: La Note Provençal restaurant
La Note has good French bistro food, with lots of options, not too pricey, and it is only 3 blocks walk to the theatre. For the menu see http://www.lanoterestaurant.com/. There is lots of street parking nearby, a public parking lot a block from the Berkeley City Club, and it is a 5 block walk from Downtown Berkeley BART.
The location: Berkeley City Club
If you haven't been to the Berkeley City Club, just seeing the building alone is worth the trip, in my opinion. A Julia Morgan designed landmark, and a memory of an age gone by. And the theatre space is quite intimate.
Payment: In order to cut down on no-shows, I collect ticket fees (+ meetup) fees in advance, and have purchased a block of tickets.
The director of the play, Robert Estes, is a friend of mine, so I may be biased in favor of his plays, but I have brought groups from this meetup to see plays that he has directed at the Berkeley City Club in the past, and they have enjoyed them.
Refunds are not offered for this Meetup.
