Hike/S. Fortuna (stairway to heaven) 5/30/19, 10AM-2PM (may add North)

Mission Trails at end of Clairemont Mesa Blvd.

S. FORTUNA Peak, our 3rd of the 5 Mission Trails Peaks Challenge. When: THURSDAY 5/30/2019 starting at 10:00AM - you must arrive by 10:45AM for equipment check etc. Note: this is not a race, but a Nature Experience, bring Camera and Lunch (we will stop at Top for Lunch). Although South Fortuna is the smallest of Mission Trails’ five peaks, topping out at “only” 1094 feet in elevation, it is still a very popular choice for hikers seeking a workout. The main attraction of S. Fortuna is the impressive set of wood steps that leads up the peak’s western flank. Known by some as the “Stairway to Heaven,” this route travels unapologetically up the steep mountainside and is great for working those leg muscles. Yes, another "butt kicker" hike. We shall meet at: the Clairemont Mesa Blvd. End of ... park on the street rather than the dirt parking lot. Distance: 5.2 miles ++ we will hike up to N. Fortuna Peak Duration: 5 hours Elevation: 1094 feet but very steep (moderately strenuous) Terrain: rocky and uneven Always carry your Cell Phone with a ICE (in case of emergency). What should you bring: Good hiking shoes, socks (a change of socks is always recommended), hiking Pole (if you have one, it helps during sharp uphills/downhills), PLENTY OF WATER, snacks, sunglasses, hat, sunscreen. Medication. Note: NOT recommended if you have knee or hip issues. You can reach me at[masked] if you have questions. text is preferred to phone call. • All attendees participate at an event at their own risk and are solely responsible for any damage to their property, and/or any injury to themselves or their guests. • By signing up for and/or attending this Meetup event, you affirm that you understand this disclaimer, and that you knowingly and voluntarily agree not to bring any type of claim arising out of or related to this Meetup event against the organizers of this Meetup group.

Dance/RON & THE REAPERS, Downtown Cafe, May 31 - 7:30 -11PM

Downtown Cafe Bar & Grille

Ron and The Rippers, featuring Chole Lou are a San Diego band that features former members of the Crawdaddys, Penetrators, and Hitmakers. Formed in 2017, they specialize in 60s faves, maximum R&B, and more than a few surprises! They're available for weddings, corporate events, parties, Bar Mitzvahs, river cruises, moon landings, and just about anything else! Review by Julie Green, April 28, 2018 "I caught a few sets by Ron and The Reapers at The Famous Barkley Restaurant and Bar last month and couldn't stop dancing! These musicians are the finest around. Their selection of music from the 50's and 60's unveiled their wealth of knowledge and taste. From a beautiful cover of "Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying" by Gerry and the Pacemakers to making the unforgettable "Thirty Six Twenty Two Thirty Six" by Bobby Bland their very own, they kept the place jumping all night long." "Headed by Ron Silva on vocals, guitar and bass, this band consists of rock 'n' roll royalty from Dave Fleminger on keys and guitar, Richard Larson on drums, Peter Miesner on guitar, bass and vocals and Chris Davies on guitar and bass. We were also treated to the amazing vocal stylings and range of Chloe Lou who is a perfect complement to these impeccable musicians." See you on the dance floor.
