Welcome to our RPT El Golfo 4x4 Run in Memory of Sandra and Tom O'Hare
The dates are May 17th, 18th and we return on the 19th 2019.
We will be leaving the "Ranchito", which is north of the Coastal Hwy, about 4km west of the overpass outside of town, at Club Lomas Campestres. Leave Hwy 8 @ overpass north of town and head west. Big white arches on your right (if you get to the RRX, you've gone too far), turn north on the dirt road, and my place is the yellow structure with the greenish walls, right in the front.
We all meet there Friday Am, around 8ish. We wait for everyone to arrive, and we take off together in one group, around 9AM.
It is appx 80 miles to El Golfo. We stay off-road as much as we can, but with all the new private property fences, and the Biosphere,
we have to travel the paved Coastal Hwy, at points.
You must bring food and drink (and enough gasoline to take you the 80+ miles) for the day, as there is nothing between my house and El Golfo. We stop for lunch at an old train stop, which is our 1/2 way point. You MUST have a 4x4 OR a sand buggy, rail, Razr, etc...and you MUST know how to drive in the sand. We arrive in El Golfo (depending on break-downs), around 3PM. We don't leave anyone behind, if they break something. Follow the driver in front of you at a close enough distance as not to loose sight of them, and far enough behind to allow them to make mistakes on the dunes, or the beach. We spend two nights in El Golfo. We head back to Peñasco Sunday AM, around 9AM, gassed up with food and drink. Sunday, back in Peñasco, we meet 4PM for our "Survivors Sunset Dinner" at The Satisfied Frog at the end of the Malecon (old port),
We need to know the names of the people in your vehicle, and the a description of the vehicle you will be driving. Please email Alicia with your info at [masked] and she will be getting back to you with the info about hotel reservations. Everyone that is sure to go please email us and let us know to add you to our list.
