March Cooking Class at Zappone's

Wine Update on Zappone's Cooking Class w/ Wine Pairings:

1st Course: Eggplant Involtini

Paired with - Row Eleven Rose', 2011, CA - a Pinot Noir Rose', slightly sweet, with strawberry and cherry flavors, soft in the mouth with a juicy finish

2nd course: Fettuccini w/Oyster Mushrooms, Peas, Cream Sauce

Paired with - (your choice of either)

Stratton Lummis Chardonnay, 2010, Los Carneros CA - really creamy, soft butter, ripe apple, white peaches, light oak and a hint of vanilla

OR - Row Eleven Vinas 3, Pinot Noir, CA - very rich Pinot with bold fruit and a long finish

Dessert: Traditional, Raspberry, & Limoncello Cannoli's

Paired with - Cavicchioli Malvese Sparkling, Italy

I've tasted all the wines (as usual!) and this is going to be amazingly delicious, not to mention learning how to make all those dishes :)

Who's going to stay and play with me afterwards???

Tana

Let's do one of Sal's special cooking classes! This one is just for us (East Valley Wine Group), and it's a full 3 course lunch.

Saturday, March 29th at 2pm (will last about 2 hours)

1st Course: Eggplant Involtini - paired with Rose'

2nd course: Homemade Fettuccini with Oyster Mushrooms, Peas in a Cream Sauce - paired with California Chardonnay or Pinot Noir

Dessert: Cannoli's 3 Ways - paired with 100% Malvese semi-sweet, semi-sparkling wine.

Cost - $30 plus tax and gratuity

What this looks like: we will have the recipes and wine in front of us, in order to follow what Sal is doing.

He will first demo how to peel and prepare Eggplant Involitini, then show us the rolling process, and how to dip in the flour and fry. When he is done (about 15 minutes) we eat :)

Next he will show us how to make pasta dough, roll it out, and cut it into fettuccini. He then will prepare the actual dish in the saute' pans (about 30 minutes). Then we eat :)

And then Cannoli's - we'll see how to prepare a basic Cannoli, and then how to vary it with a few different other flavors. Then we eat :)

Notice how there are smiley faces after all the "and then we eats"? :)

This event has a limit of 25 people, so if you RSVP YES, then I expect you to be there!

I can't wait! (except I'm afraid after this I might be expected to make HOMEMADE pasta every time)...
