What we're about

Where can an ASL user (or student!) go to find a group hosting Deaf chat events that are a little less intimidating and people who are a little more patient with newbies?

Right here!

Eastern Atlanta ASL is primarily a social Meetup for anyone who signs or wants to sign - Deaf, deaf, HOH, students, interpreters, AND anyone who loves them!

You'll notice our events generally have "Guests at" preceding the title of the event. This is because we usually attend events that are already established. So why have the group when there are calendars online already? Mostly because Meetup is easy and it's one of the first places people look when they want to find people with similar interests - like us!

PLEASE NOTE that the organizer, Laura, MAY NOT ATTEND ALL MEETUPS but is available by text (40four-three81-7five43), Glide (Laura Cavern), IMO (Laura Cavern), and Facebook Messenger (Laura Cavern) as well as voice cell (40four-three81-7five43) to help you find the group, muster your courage, or confirm details about the event.

Have an event or venue suggestion? Send us a message!

P.S. Don't be discouraged if RSVPs are low - it's common for regulars to not RSVP. Join us and see!

NON-HOSTED Panera Bread Deaf Chat

Panera Bread

This is a recurring, monthly event. THERE WILL NOT BE A FORMAL HOST. People of all ages show up, and when it's a big attendance, you can easily expect 30 or more people, the majority of whom are Deaf. Please give it a shot at least once! By the way... Don't feel obligated to buy anything. It's always nice to support the businesses where we gather, but if you are a poor student or a not-so-flush regular guy or gal, don't let that be the reason you don't go. Tell people you aren't hungry. No one will care or know the difference, I promise! ******PLEASE NOTE****** This event is often well attended, but it has been reported to me that sometimes only a few people show up, or only hearing people are there. I've found no pattern to explain this, so I'm only listing the event with these caveats. I don't mean to be negative at all, but since some people drive a long way, I just want you to know the possibilities. :) If you go, report in the comments how many people you saw, or post a picture or two!
