    WOW.. It's December chapter meeting announcement time already! Where has 2018 gone?? I guess it's true what they say, time flies when you're having fun! To cap off our great year of chapter meetings and events, we've invited Chris Belyeu to provide guidance on problem type analysis, what to do when problems evolve and how culture factors into the ability to create a sustainable problem solving toolbox. Chris is employed by Aegon Global Technology and has 8 years management experience and 7 years of consulting experience. Chris has a LEAN Six Sigma Black Belt and has been coaching agile for over 2 years.     This month we are excited to announce Mandy Webber will be joining us to present 'Problem identification and framing (Edward DeBono tools) using Innovation Games'. Innovation Games® Overview Playing games to solve serious business problems works; groups that engage in serious play at work are more innovative, more collaborative, and more productive. Research shows that we are hard-wired to express ourselves and interact with each other through play. This hands-on workshop will be a brief overview of Luke Hohmann's Innovation Games®, components of the games, and the process. We will brainstorm questions to solve over lunch and then end the session by playing a game and with a question/answer time. About our presenter: Mandy Webber, Director of Innovation, NewBoCo Mandy Webber has more than 12 years of experience in marketing, business development, and corporate innovation. She has worked at organizations ranging in size from smaller Chicago construction companies to a large global corporation, Transamerica.     Since it's July and it's hot, let's talk about a hot topic in the BA/QA world: Test Automation. Ryan Burlage from Aegon Asset Management will be presenting the Who, What, Why and How's of Test Automation. Quality is a critical part of any organization. Through test automation, to achieve higher quality, organizations save money, reduce errors and create opportunities for investments that grow business. Ryan Burlage is the Global QA Manager for Aegon Asset Management. He has over 15 years of experience in the coding, testing, and BA/PM work spaces. Ryan first started working at a rugged handheld company developing/ testing software and hardware.   • IIBA June Meeting - Waterfall to Agile: Necessary Bumps and Bruises
    Waterfall to Agile: Necessary Bumps and Bruises Sean Coughlin will be live, in person, to present ‘Waterfall to Agile, Necessary Bumps and Bruises’. As we all know, waterfall project execution has it’s pros and cons. But as organizations look to gain efficiencies and increase agility, many are moving to some form of agile project methodology. Sean’s day job is at Aegon Asset Management where their Project Management Office and IT recently moved to the SAFe project execution framework. With any change such as this, comes challenges that need to be met head on in order to succeed. Sean will talk through his experiences, challenges and hurdles faced at AAM that are now leading to many success. Sean has been with Aegon Asset Management for a total of 8 years, 5 as a project manager and the last 3 years as the Manager of the Project Management Office. As part of AAM’s transition to SAFe, Sean gained certification as a ‘SAFe Scrum Master’ and acts as the AAM Program Release Train Engineer. Prior to Aegon Asset Management, Sean worked as a Project Manager at Pearson in Iowa City for 10 years. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Iowa.     We are excited to announce our May chapter meeting will feature June Rainbow and her presentation on 'Gender Intelligence'. The presentation will cover the understanding, valuing and inclusion of gender differences as well as the ability to recognize different and complementary strengths of men and women relative to: • Communication • Problem solving • Decision making • Leadership Once gender intelligence is understood, a domino effect occurs which creates a powerful inclusionary culture. More about June Rainbow: June Rainbow was born and raised in South Dakota. She graduated with a BA in Accounting from the University of Northern Iowa, and later received her MBA from St. Ambrose University. June joined Rockwell Collins in 1981, and has held numerous positions over the past 37 years. She is currently the Principal Manager of Programs, Projects, Distribution, Lean, S/W Tools and Strategic Integration for the Publications and Training Solutions organization within Simulation and Training Solutions. June has been a strong advocate for women throughout her career. She helped form the Women’s Forum at Rockwell, and helped it grow through multiple locations. June was part of a small group tasked by the Women’s Forum to look into Gender Intelligence. She attended several presentations and workshops on the topic, and she, along with her small team, assembled this presentation. June has been presenting this throughout various locations at Rockwell over the past two years. June serves on the Board of Directors for Iowa Art Works, is a Trustee and past President of Gems of Hope, and has served on the Board for the March of Dimes. She is married to her husband Pete, and together they have three daughters and six grandchildren. Lunch will be provided, thank you to QCI! Cost is $5 for non-members.   • Eastern Iowa IIBA Chapter Meeting - April: Lean and Software Development / Agile
    **The is the reschedule of our cancelled 4/18 presentation. We hope you can join us!** We welcome Marth Szylberg (pr. Shil-berg) to present 'Lean and Software Development / Agile!' for our April meeting. It is becoming common to integrate process improvement with software development efforts – in order to streamline processes before adopting or developing technology. This is often done to minimize technology needs. This presentation will discuss the application of lean to software development and also lean’s relationship to Agile methods. For the past six years, Martha has been a Business Process Engineer facilitating Lean and Six Sigma process improvement events with cross - functional teams spanning all business areas. She co-founded and facilitates the Iowa City - Cedar Rapids Lean Coffee group through the Iowa Lean Consortium. Prior to being a Business Process engineer, she was a member of a software development team and acted as a liaison between business users and developers by eliciting requirements, developing screen mock-ups, holding design review and user acceptance testing sessions, training end users and providing application support. Pizza from Pizza Ranch will be provided, thank you to QCI! Cost is $5 for non-members. No cost for members in good standing.
