What we're about

I thought i'd start this group to see if anyone would be interested in creating a book club. I'm not a great reader and often spend ages in WH Smith just staring at books with no idea on what to buy and walking out with nothing... I thought getting together perhaps once a month or fortnight (to be decided) to talk about a specific book together would encourage me and others to get back into the habit and try and make some new friends too. If you are interested I've made a group on facebook just search for Eastleigh Book Club and i'll add you or message 07901 337057 to find out more.. :-) thank you for reading....

July Eastleigh Book Club Meet up - A place in the Country - Rob Stuart

You're invited to join our July Eastleigh Book Club Meet up. We are delighted to be joined by Rob the author on this occasion. So please be prepared with some questions. We are a small friendly group meeting monthly at the Concorde Club in Eastleigh. Reading a variety of books that we encourage members to suggest and choose. July Book Synopsis:- When yuppies Mitchell and Jocasta Dever move into Yew Tree cottage in the Hampshire village of Itchen Prior they fondly imagine they'll be starting a new life of bucolic bliss in a rural idyll. In fact, things don't exactly turn out like that. What they find is a seething pit of incest, sexual jealousy, paganism, exploitation, sharp business practices, feudalism and murder. 'A Place in the Country' - whose galaxy of characters includes Sherborne St John, the lord of the manor and his scheming wife, Gwendolyn, who keeps her stable hand, Crux Easton, as a sex slave; Jed Smith, exploitative garden centre owner who uses the Bosnian student Jagoda Doboj and her friends as cheap illegal labour, and the deeply dubious Warren family - is a novel that takes a hilarious, jaunty, and also often moving and disturbing look at a rural idyll that is anything but. But if everyone is keeping secrets, how will she know who to trust? You buy it in all the usual ways and here is a link to the amazon link 🔗 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Place-Country-Rob-Stuart/dp/1911546333/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=a+place+in+the+country+rob+stuart&qid=1555489267&s=books&sr=1-2-spell Any questions or suggestions always welcome.
