Quick intro about yourself.

As I mentioned I just moved from Rochester, New York. I love the city but not having my friends around or a sense of purpose employment provides has been a challenge. In Rochester I was constantly going to coffee houses, bars or restaurants with girlfriends. We talked about many things but, most of my friends loved to read and we discussed book often. I have never done anything as structured as a book club, but have always had the noble intention. One of my objectives in Seattle is to be more like Jim Carrey in the movie Yes Man, and be constantly active and trying new things. I am also looking into the teaching market in Seattle and am looking forward to starting with subbing or volunteering. I also just got a puppy, a Chinese crested and Chihuahua mix (yes, the mix that has constantly won the world's ugliest dog contest) named Sid. I must admit that to me he is adorable but, I am a little bias.

Favorite book, author or genre.

Some of my favorite books are East of Eden, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Feminine Mystique (I know ironic because I quit my job to be with my fiance), Octavia E. Butler's Parable Series, Reviving Ophelia: Saving the Selves of Adolescent Girls, The Help, the work of Nathaniel Hawthorne especially Young Goodman Brown, the Maus graphic novels, Edgar Allen Poe's The Black Cat, A People's History of the United States, The Dirt and many more.

Hi, my name is Jenn, I just moved to Seattle. I was a social studies teacher in New York (also certified in English) and moved to be with my fiance. I love the city so far but it is hard without friends or a job to give me a sence of purpose!
