Twain's Frog and the Beautiful Serpent Hike at Mori Point

You are invited to join Brent Plater of the Wild Equity Institute for a leisurely stroll through Mori Point in search of the two most imperiled species on the San Francisco Peninsula: the San Francisco garter snake and the California red-legged frog. Learn about the ongoing habitat restoration at Mori Point and the efforts being taken to save the snakes and the frogs from extinction.

Bring your binoculars because Mori Point is wonderful place to see birds and other wildlife as well. This is a great outing for kids!

Meet at the Mori Point Entrance Gate, at the intersection of Bradford Way and Mori Point Road, Pacifica, CA, 94044. This event is rain or shine.

If anyone would like to attend, but needs a ride we will do our best to make arrangements. Please note if you are willing to pick people up from a particular location.

You can learn more about these two species at:

I'm considering going. The problem is I take a LOT of pictures and tend to go at very slow pace
Are there any other photo takers going?
I do not want to hold the group up or ask for any special privileges

Hi Mike, You will have time to take pictures. We are not speed walkers. We are there to see and observe the animals. You most assuredly will be in the company of other photographers. And even if the group gets a bit ahead of you, we will be easy to find. I hope you join us!

For those of you feeling extra adventurous, I just discovered that you can get to Mori Point by public transit!!! The bus drops you off within a short walking distance of the trailhead. It could be because I haven't had a car in eons, but I get the warm fuzzies when I discover that you can get to hiking spots via public transit.

According to the SF Chronicle you can take the "SamTrans 110 from Daly City BART or the SamTrans 112 from Colma BART to Westport Drive and Highway 1. Walk a few steps to Bradford Way and then turn left. When Bradford ends, you will see a gate to your right. This is the trailhead. Note: If you need to cross Highway 1, walk north on Bradford Way. Just past Fairway Drive, you will find a path that crosses under the highway."

I checked 511.org and this looks legit. But you should check the travel time from your exact starting point.

That said, we will still try to organize carpools as needed. But I wanted to let people know there is one more option.
