Circle Singing
April's Circle Sing will be held at Dusty Strings Music in Fremont. Hosted by our own Debby Boland Watt. Circle Singing was developed by Bobby McFerrin & supports freestanding pieces of music by layering improvised parts. Frequently used are Rhiannon's Vocal River exercises while learning to express our own music spontaneously. What a joyful journey of self-discovery and the collective conscious. This class is designed for singers of every level so consider joining us as we explore improvisation within the comfort of a safe vocal community. $5. donation Visit: debbywatt.com (http://debbybolandwatt.weebly.com) for more info! "Debby may quite possibly be the female Bobby McFerrin of Seattle! Her vocal fireworks, pops, flourishes and zippy-do-da's are not only fun and inventive, but musical as well. Her singing is reminiscent of Jay Clayton, Bobby McFerrin and other true pioneers of vocal improvisation and singing. Debby is a full meal deal vocalist and unafraid to explore her instrument unlike so many other singers in Jazz and beyond." J.R. Seattle, WA

What we're about

We have this crazy dream of regular gatherings dedicated to ecstatic singing and vocal improv in the city of Seattle! We create opportunities to gather for ecstatic singing, vocal improv, jamming, deep listening, toning, chanting, noise making, etc. "Ecstatic Singing is for people that love to sing and want to join in the fun of creating improvised a cappella songs, beats, harmonies, and really great vibrations - literally. Together we can join in creating a new vocal paradigm, that nourishes the spirit, soothes the soul, and carries forth joy into the world." Circle Singing is the 'soul child' of the great artist Bobby McFerrin........some call it a drum circle with voice.......some think of it as a spiritual practice......and some just think of it as a fun time! One of our key values is deep listening: listening to each other, listening to ourselves and being responsive to what is there. Come sing with us!
