Michael Rosie (University of Edinburgh) is a sociologist specialising in identity and belonging, particularly (but by no means exclusively) in Scotland. He is particularly interested in the intersections of national and religious identities in relation to perceptions and experiences of 'sectarianism' in Scotland, not least against the context of rapid and far-reaching secularisation. Current research includes religion's (ir)relevance to Scotland's independence debate, policy and action around sectarianism, ethno-religious British Unionism/Loyalism, and young people and the Scottish Referendum.
