So many meetup groups hold events on Fridays and over the weekend, for a variety of valid reasons. This group is for those who prefer midweek fun, perhaps because their weekends are busy or they are only in the city during the week. Barring exceptional circumstances we will organise one event per week on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.
EAT, DRINK and have FUN
Since its inception in February 2014, these three simple objectives have been the pillars at the core of our group. Typically our weekly event is centred around a restaurant booking with an optional drink before and/or after the meal. Variations beyond this template arise from time to time according to our members' interests and suggestions.
Whilst there are no age limits, this group is for those seeking social activities, nothing extreme. There are plenty other groups for that....at the weekends!
Annual membership contribution: £3
Hosting any group on meetup.com costs getting on for £12 per month, for which the organiser is liable. In order to ensure a fair and sustainable future for the group, a contribution of £3 per annum towards the meetup.com subscription will be requested from attending members. New members may attend two Midweek meetups for free before any payment is due. Annual contributions are up for renewal in September each year. Please seek out the group organiser (currently Gerry Mulvenna) at any Midweek event to pay your annual membership contribution of £3.
Are there any rules?
We've never had a big long list of formal rules. We are all grown-ups, intent on making friends and enjoying ourselves, so we expect all our members to act with common sense and respect for one another.
1. use a recognisable profile picture to facilitate a successful meet and greet by the organiser at each event
2. if you find you are unable to attend an event at any time right up to the last minute, it is essential that you update your RSVP. No-shows are a NO-NO. Repeat offenders will be removed from the group
3. help the event organisers in whatever way you can - they dedicate a lot of time and energy to the smooth running of each event - without them, the group would not exist
