small, clandestine; felt like Catholics meeting in secret in Nazi Poland!

Just two people besides myself. Good thinking people to rub ideas with. Great conversation. My first Libertarian meetup and I will definitely try to make future meetups.

Very discouraged with the people that I talked to. There was a lack of compassion and love from the group. It seems that there is more talk and less action from them, everybody seems to be on different levels of knowledge but nobody seems to desire more knowledge than what they think they have. If this is the level of desire for freedom and liberty, then we are are in BIG trouble. People don't want to hear things that may challenge their stance on issues and don't want to hear that they have to take more responsibility and accountability than what they have taken. Darkness has to be acknowledged if we are going to have freedom and liberty and I felt that those in attendance were afraid to deal with the darkness that surrounds us in society.

I am left with a very positive impression of this group from the one gathering I attended. I am no longer in Alberta, but this group is definitely one of the things I'll remember fondly about my time in that place. For provincial outsiders like myself, this group is something of a haven for intelligent discussion in the city, and will leave you with more to do in town than just work. Give it a chance if you are open to civil dialog and possibly having your ideas re-examined. I don't consider the group dogmatic, and went in with a lot of questions that were taken at face value rather than as rhetorical jabs at adherence to libertarian principles.

The difficulty with understanding Liberty is that it is counter-intuitive. Most believe that in order to have peace and prosperity we need a strong force to institute it. However, peace cannot be kept by force, only by understanding.

It feels like home for those wanting to know more about how to develop and encourage a more civil and sustainable social and economic system based on voluntary exchange instead of the coercive systems of government intervention that pervade most countries, even in the "free world".

Interesting alternative points of view at the environmental/Aboriginal meeting. However, I still wasn't given any sound reasons for not believing that excess carbon dioxide in the atmosphere leads to global warming. Look at the planet Venus!
