    6:00-8:00pm Speaker: Ian Moon

Identity Server is an Open Source OpenID Connect and OAuth 2.0 framework for .NET. As a framework Identity Server is NOT an out of the box solution and is configurable (by a developer) to fit many situations. It's core purpose is to make it easier for developers to implement federation through Openid Connect and OAuth2 standards which can be hard to get right.
In this presentation, Identity Server will be introduced including its core concepts and use cases with some code demonstrations. Examples should be largely transferable between both production versions of Identity Server (v3 for full framework and v4 for .net core)

    Speaker Bio:

Ian is a dedicated software developer writing his first program for the Apple II in Junior High, his first web site for the local rock climbing club in High School, and achieved his Bachelor of Science, with Specialization in Computing Science from the University of Alberta in 2002.

His career began in the Link Project of the Software Engineering Research Lab at the U of A, where he became an original founder of Onware Software Corporation whose products where based on a Prothos, a Perl web application framework.

He later moved into the ASP.NET Forms working for the Western Hog Exchange writing a custom ERP solution for selling pigs... lots and lots of pigs and migrating it to the Azure cloud.

He now plies his trade writing enterprise applications for Gateway Trailer Repair integrating existing internal Forms, MVC, and 3rd party applications and adopting .net core for all new development.

He is excited about the new Microsoft and its adoption of and support of open source technologies like Identity Server which he has been using it for the past year.

Ian is private and a technology curmudgeon and does not participate in Facebook, Twitter or even have a web page at this point. He does golf, plays hockey, skips a curling team, and skis on water or snow.
