Speakers

All presentations are 6 minutes, with time for Q&A afterward.

1. Michelle Levesque - Mozilla Foundation (mozilla.org and rwxweb.wordpress.com )

Open, participative and distributed are Mozilla Foundations aims for the future of learning. Learning today happens everywhere, not just in the classroom. But it's often difficult to get recognition for skills and achievements that happen outside of schools. Michelle Levesque will discuss, via video, the approach that Mozilla Foundation is taking to meet their objectives to re-invent learning and assessment with digital technologies.

2. Karen Ortiz - TIE Colorado (tiecolorado.org)

Technology in Education Colorado, Inc. (TIE) is a Colorado-based, not-for-profit organization founded in 1986 by a group of teachers with a vision to host a conference focusing on the increasing role technology plays in education. In its 26th year, TIE hosts a pre-conference Leadership Academy for educational leaders and organizes the premier statewide conference helping teachers integrate technology tools and 21st century skills, including the National Education Technology Standards (NETS), into all content areas.

3. Will Eden - High School English Teacher, KIPP Denver Collegiate HS ( kipp.org/school-content/kipp-denver-collegiate-high-school)

Will will present a "Request for Startup" by explaining an idea for a tool that he (and every other high school English teacher) desperately needs. Entrepreneurs - take note!

4. Cary Gloge - Ubooly (ubooly.com)

Ubooly is a cuddly creature, powered by your iPhone or iPod touch that downloads interactive content every month over wifi, including games, stories, and adventures.  Our goal is to get kids excited to learn through engaging content.   We're currently reaching out to educators, therapists, and storytellers to help us refine our educational content and make Ubooly a better toy.

5. Lighting Round

Meetup attendees will have a chance to quickly present a tool/site/app they use and love.
