User Experience Designer – Contract (6 Months) – Lakewood, CO

Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Technology Project Manager, the User Experience Designer designs web applications with a focus on the user experience for online testing applications and educational software for K-12 educational assessments to meet client specifications.

Required Skills:
• Expert proficiency with HTML and CSS including HTML5 and CSS3
• Expert proficiency with Illustrator and Photoshop.
• 3+ years' experience with user experience design experience.
• 3+ user experience design experience.
• Proven experience with Wireframing and Prototyping tools (Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Sketchflow, Balsamiq, or other preferred tools)
• Proven experience turning design into working HTML/CSS
• Work well in a team environment and be willing to help other team members when appropriate.
• Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office-Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to present to large and small groups.
• Proven ability to perform well in a deadline-sensitive environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Conduct interaction design for web-based applications.
• Define the tasks, navigation and flow of a web-based software system that meet usability and accessibility requirements.
• Conduct visual design focusing on user interface look and feel including layout, colors, fonts, shapes and space.
• Define and conduct usability tests for web-based applications.
• Prototype interaction and visual design using design tools and prototyping software.
• Convert final designs to working HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
• Provide a strong understanding and demonstrated ability to execute software development processes and their integration into product development.
• Confer with management and peers to resolve questions of program intent, software requirements, and inclusion of internal checks and controls.
• Analyze, review, and update designs to improve user experience or to adapt design to new requirements.
• Compile and write documentation of user experience designs such that system engineers can develop technology requirements and software engineers can understand design components.
• Effectively communicate issues with cross functional groups to escalate issues or changes in scope.
• Communicate clearly and concisely with clients, customers and management.
• Minimal travel is required.
