MySQL Replication Smackdown

Async, semi, and sync replication jump into the rink for your data management. Who wins? The answer depends greatly on many different factors including:

•  your availability needs

•  your infrastructure

•  your technical resources

•  ease of use

•  tools

•  legacy systems

In this presentation we configure all types of replication to show what is involved. We will look at the impact to the application developer in choosing, supporting or switching types. We will look at the operations and administration impact to evaluate the full cost of supporting different types in your organization. We will review all three options for geographically redundant HA cloud provider solutions. This is becoming the minimum standard for all applications. This presentation will also discuss the three types of synchronous replication now possible. Galera, MySQL cluster and the labs group replication to define the features and stability of each. Finally we will survey the landscape of the various open source tools that can manage and visualize your MySQL topology.
