If you've ever spent all night tweaking a synth's LFO, kick sample's attack, or bassline's dirty wobble, because it needs to sound just right, this is the group for you. This group is dedicated to learning tips and tricks to take your production to the next level, meeting other producers, and planning shows with each other. If you want producing electronic music professionally and touring, this is a great resource to get there. The goal is for our meetups to elevate everyone's game. I moved to LA 4 months ago and there are no other active groups that do this; I'm going to make it happen. My studio is in a large warehouse in central LA and we're having meetups there every 2 weeks. I'll have speakers setup and we'll give everyone a chance to play their tracks as everyone shows up. Then we'll have an experienced EDM producer talk specifically about one aspect of production. Finally, everyone can work together in the space to collaborate and use the vocal box.
CNTRPNT is a monthly workshop series focusing on modular synthesis and music technology. Each month features a performance from a different artist or visionary as well as a discussion about their methods and motivations behind working in the modular synth world. Moderated by creators Computo and Viktor Carrillo, CNTRPNT aims to spread a wider awareness of the growing Euro-rack and hardware modular synthesizer industry, and to demystify the often confusing intersection of hardware and software based music production. The event is free and open to the public.
This month, we welcome Bon Harris!
A founding member of Nitzer Ebb, Harris is well known for his programming and synth work, collaborating with Depeche Mode, The Smashing Pumpkins and Marilyn Manson. In addition to his prolific synth work, Bon is also the Sound Design Instructor at Point Blank Los Angeles. Bon will be presenting a short performance using his classic Roland System 100 modular with the new Aira effects followed by a discussion of Modular Synthesis techniques and question/answer session.
