Taxonomy of FRP

Functional Reactive Programming (FRP) is becoming an increasingly common way to structure event-driven code, but this term "FRP" actually refers to a large body of increasingly diverse work. We now have projects like ReactiveExtensions, Elm, ReactiveCocoa, NetWire, etc. that have very different semantics! This talk will quickly cover the basics of FRP, and then go into a couple different formulations of FRP that people are using. We will explore how these formulations fit together historically and theoretically. After this talk, you should be able to quickly assess what kind of FRP you are looking at and what specific trade-offs come with that approach.

I know a lot of people who worked on FRP are in the bay area, so I hope we can have some great discussion and debate about how I am framing things. Hopefully we will all come away with a better understanding of FRP!

Barring some unforeseen technical problems, video should be available.

    See everyone tomorrow!

Yes, terrific job Evan. Both the talk and the chat afterwards were inspiring.

My wife is out of town so I'm minding the cattery. I'd forgotten how much that messes up my routine. Hopefully I'll get to watch this on video. Sorry I can't be there to chat in person :(

The door to the office will be locked at this hour, so would anyone be willing to man the door for 10 or 15 minutes?

Hi Elmers, I'm hoping the event's going to be recorded. Please don't start the talk without a camera turned on :)
