Come to SSC's 'SSCreenroom' & watch the Japanese anime 'Spirited Away'

For some time I have been planning to start  a Japanese language and culture course at SSC, and I have now decided to launch a Japanese anime/cinema twice a month as a first step towards the introduction of this new course.

The idea is that people interested in Japan and the Japanese language and culture can get together once a week (on Thursday evenings from 7.30  to watch an anime or movie in Japanese.

The film for the first session on the 10th is the animation 'Spirited Away'.

Graham Murdoch has kindly said that he is willing to help run these  session.  I am really busy and  already put time and effort into the regular Meet up sessions (see below), so the Japanese film session will be more casual.  I will try to be there, nut it will basically be be member led.

I will run the regular Meet up  sessions on the alternate Wednesdays when the Japanese film night is not on.  I will contiue to prepare information and worksheets to help you with your English and will also provide some feedback on your English during the sessions.

The next Regular Meet up advertised in a separate post.  It  will be on Thursday 17th November and will be about William Wallace.  See clip from Mel Gibson video below:

This version is fictionalised - I hope we can gain an insight into what Wallace was really like, his role in Scottish history, and his present day legacy.

The original idea of this Meet up was that it would provide space in whch members can bring their own ideas/cultures/languages and that it would allow you to lead the sessions and give presentations.  I've run 41 Met ups and this has not as yet happened.  Anyone interested in running a session?  I can provide support.  It would help develop your english and your confidence in speaking in public.  Let me know.

Please note:  The Meet up sessions at SSC are FREE.  We only ask that, if you enjoy them, you post reviews for each session you attend and enjoy.  SSC provides a list of links where you can copy and paste your reviews.  Your support in this is appreciated!
