ESL Practice: Sat. 11:15 am at Cafe 22 on Broadway
This recurring ESL session is for those who would like to perfect their English grammar and pronunciation. The Saturday session consists of a 1 hour ESL session, followed by 15 minutes of casual chatting with other English learners. This session is offered at 11:15 am on Saturday, at Cafe 22 on Broadway (one block west of the Fyxx). There is 2 hour free parking on the street on Saturdays. (Each week, one practice session is offered three times: Tuesday at 6 pm, Tuesday at 7:05 pm; then the same session is given on the following Saturday at 11:15 am. You are welcome to sign up for one of the three sessions.) Each meetup costs $3 cash per person. People who attend have the option of prepaying $3 cash at the time of the session, for the meetup the following week, in order to ensure that they get a spot. There will be no refunds unless the meetup is cancelled or rescheduled. There are spots for 8 people at each session. At the time of the session, if there are any empty unpaid spots for the following week, sign-ups for those empty spots will open at 1:15 pm on Saturday, one week prior to the Meetup. **If you have prepaid but find out you cannot attend, DO NOT change your attendance status. Leave your name in the group, but message me to let me know you won't be there. If you want to get a spot for the following week, you will need to find a way to get the $3 to me before 1:15 pm that afternoon. Or, you can go onto the meetup site at 1:15 pm on the afternoon of the meetup you missed, to get your spot for the following week. If you wish you may prepay for several weeks in advance to hold your spot, but there will be no refunds if you cannot attend unless the meetup is cancelled or rescheduled. **If you didn't have a spot the previous week, but you want to try for a spot, you must go onto the meetup site and check periodically, especially Saturday after 1:15 pm. The focus is on improving those hard-to-pronounce words and sounds, getting rid of that little bit of accent that lingers, practicing verb tenses and learning idioms and vocabulary. The group is led by Jill, a former English teacher. It is a casual, non-threatening informal group where you can improve your English and enjoy the company of others over a cup of coffee. As we are meeting in a restaurant, we request that you purchase a drink or snack while there. All levels of English learners are welcome!

What we're about

This meetup is organized by Jill, a former English teacher. There are two types of meetings: ESL Practice and Casual Chat Tables.

ESL Practice : Each week, one practice session is offered three times: on Tuesday at 6:00 pm, and at 7:05 pm; and then the following Saturday at 11:15 am. You are welcome to sign up for one of the three sessions.

Each session costs $3 cash per person. People who attend have the option of prepaying $3 cash at the time of the session, to pay for the meetup the following week, in order to ensure that they get a spot. There will be no refunds unless the meetup is cancelled or rescheduled. There are spots for 8 people at each session. At the end of a session, if there are any empty unpaid spots for the following week, sign-ups for those empty spots will open after the meetup is over. Sign-ups for Tuesday sessions will open at 9:00 pm Tuesday evening, and sign-ups for Saturday sessions will open at 1:15 pm Saturday afternoon, one week prior to the meetup.

**If you have prepaid but find out you cannot attend, DO NOT change your attendance status. Leave your name in the group, but message me to let me know you won't be there. If you want to get a spot for the following week, you will need to find a way to get the $3 to me before sign-ups for the next week open. Or, you can go onto the meetup site when signups first open, to get your spot for the following week. If you wish, you may prepay for several weeks in advance to hold your spot, but there will be no refunds if you cannot attend unless the meetup is cancelled or rescheduled.

The Practice Session is intended for those who are still actively learning the English Language. It is an informal, oral English conversation session (no homework!!) with an emphasis on both grammar and pronunciation. We learn and practice common idioms and expressions, verb tenses and vocabulary. We also work on English pronunciation, focusing on improving those hard-to-pronounce words and sounds, and getting rid of that little bit of accent that lingers. It is a casual, non-threatening informal group where you can improve your English and enjoy the company of others over a cup of tea or coffee. All levels of English learners are welcome! Most Tuesday meetings are held at The Fyxx, 310 Broadway, on the corner of Broadway and Donald. Saturday meetings are held at Cafe 22, 336 Broadway, on the corner of Broadway and Hargrave.

Casual Chat Tables: This a casual English conversation group with no teacher and no lesson. It's just a pleasant way to meet new people and practice your English in a relaxed and unstructured setting. There is no group size limit so there will always be room for you. (Once a table is full, a new group will start up at another table). The official start time is 6:15 pm but it's OK to arrive later than that. When you arrive, just look for a "Casual Chat Table" sign, and join the other English speakers there. Cost is $1.00 per person. It is intended for people who are actively interested in improving their English. All levels of English learners are welcome! This meeting is held Monday evenings at The Fyxx, 310 Broadway, on the corner of Broadway and Donald. Members who attended/paid for an ESL Practice Session the week before are welcome to come to the Casual Chat Tables the following Monday, as well, for no extra charge.

For all meetings, as we are meeting in a restaurant, we request that you purchase a drink or snack while there.

If you would like further info about this group, feel free to contact Jill, who is the facilitator and group co-organizer, and she will gladly answer any of your questions.
