If you are looking to expand your social circle and make the most out of living in Zurich, then you should come and join us. We meet regularly to unwind from the week, enjoy a few drinks and relax with fellow Expats. This group is about meeting new and interesting people in an informal and friendly environment… away from the crowds. Come on your own, with friends or with a 'significant other' – its up to you – but you will always feel welcomed!

Many Expats frequent this English-friendly bar, so if you are new please come early, as this represents the best opportunity to meet people before the regulars settle in for the night. As the night progresses it tends to get crowded, but we often end up taking over the whole Bar!

Even a play was made of this event and played on the Theatre stage (follow the link)!!! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scQSzHccgH0&list=FLyf5GyPxwRmjQQryvBghv6w)

Look for us with a Züri Expats (http://www.meetup.com/Zurich-Expats-2012-Event/) Badge at the door and show your Zurich eXpats membercard, we look for your RSVP on our guestlist. And let you into our private area and introduce you to some people to make you feel confortable and like a VIP.

TRIVIA: What IS the Paradeplatz, anyways?!

The Paradeplatz is a square at the Bahnhofstrasse (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bahnhofstrasse) in downtown (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Altstadt_%28Z%C3%BCrich%29) Zürich (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Z%C3%BCrich). It is one of the most expensive pieces of real estate in Switzerland and has become synonymous with wealth and the Swiss banks (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swiss_banks), being the location of the headquarters of both UBS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UBS) and Credit Suisse (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Credit_Suisse_Group).

The site of the square lay without the medieval city walls, and was incorporated into the town with the construction of the new ramparts in 1642. During the 17th century, it served as a livestock market, known as Säumärt ("pig market"), renamed to Neumarkt "new market" in 1819 and finally to its current name following the construction of Bahnhofstrasse (1865). The hotel Baur en Ville on the eastern end of the square opened in 1838. The Paradeplatz was the scene of clashes between insurgents and cantonal troops during the 1839 Züriputsch (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Z%C3%BCriputsch).

The Confiserie Sprüngli (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confiserie_Spr%C3%BCngli) at the southern end opened in 1859. The Credit Suisse (formerly Kreditanstalt) building at the northern end dates to 1873, the UBS (formerly Bankverein) building at the western end to 1897-1899. The first horse-drawn trams circulated in 1882 and were electrified in 1896.
