The Enneagram is an ancient personality typing system that identifies 9 ways of seeing, being, and relating in the world. More importantly, however, it is a spiritual growth/ personal development tool that provides great clarity for the specific direction our individual growth needs to take. Each of us will relate to one type with which we predominately lead. Understanding our type helps us to see our gifts as well as our greatest area of growth - these two are always flip sides of the same coin.
Personally, I have been on a path of self discovery for the last 20 years. My desire, as Oprah would say, is to “ live my best life”. I wish to be more loving, passionate, joyful and purposeful in the world. The Enneagram has effected me more profoundly then anything else I have read or practiced. Not only has it provided clarity on who I am now and who I can be, I also have greater compassion for others and how they see and relate to world.
I have spent a great deal of time reading and exploring this on my own but we can learn so much more from each other. I believe we could support each other in our growth and create deep long lasting friendships through the meetings.
If you are already knowledgeable about the Enneagram - fantastic, if not but it sounds interesting I recommend you check out the book “The Road Back to You” by Ian Morgan Cron and Suzanne Stabile. There are also a lot of other books and many websites to explore. **Be careful of the online test to help determine your type. Suzanne Stabile, who has been teaching the Enneagram for over 25 years, says the test can be wrong up to 60% of the time. Instead she recommends reading about the types and paying attention to which type seems to be capture how you are - for some you will know it right away, for others it may take some time to explore before there is clarity.**
