Insect Photography Clinic

ISMC is proud to present Damon Tighe, a renown master nature photographer from the Bay Area, as we present this workshop. Insect Photography Clinic is an intermediate level workshop that will help to increase your skills in insect photography knowledge with DSLR and point-and-shoot cameras. In this workshop Tighe will share tips, tricks and techniques for getting better photographs using DSLR and point-and-shoot cameras. ISMC's goal is that you are better prepared to take and share insect photographs for yourself or the community that you serve. In the first hour of the workshop Tighe will critique photographs submitted by you and others. (See the note about uploading photographs). In the second hour we will get help from Tighe as we actually go out to photograph insects in the field. The last half hour we will be a debrief with Tighe. Please bring your camera(s), flashes, spare batteries and other equipment needed to transfer images to a PC. Wear weather-appropriate clothing and bring drinking water. RSVP here. Once you are registered you will be able to upload photographs for review.

Ed - A few other people commented that the photo review was very helpful. But there were some very ready to get outside and to start shooting bugs. We plan to keep it in, but also try to make it more interesting people who want to point-and-scoot!

Thanks again to those who participated in the Insect Photography Clinic. As you know we are using photographs taken today to help write Insects of the San Francisco Bay Area. It would be great if you could consider allowing us to review photographs taken today. Please upload *original* photographs only to this link:

Whoever thought that so many were interested in learning to photograph insects? Damon Tighe, Nature Photographer, led this workshop that provided feedback on insect images shared by photographers and then led a photo help session in the field. The workshop is part of ISMC's plan to create a community of Bay Area citizen scientists trained to take and share better insect photos for a field guide and is a collaboration between ISMC, California Center for Natural History and Oakland Parks and Recreation.

Hey BugPeople - Thank you for signing up. Part of this workshop will be having Damon to critique photographs that we upload ahead of time. He may not get to do every photo, but please add yours to the pool. Add your photos at this link here:
