As cloud computing comes of age - we have the ability to expand resources and take our applications to essentially infinite scale. The best part is this capability is now out of the box with platforms like Microsoft Azure.

Have you ever wondered how large scale distributed apps like SETI@Home or Folding@Home work? Are you interested in creating your own private large-scale compute engine?

We will take a look at what High-Performance Computing (HPC) is, various forms of HPC, what they can do for us and then, we will start building our own in Azure using Azure Batch.
