Achieving quality while deploying to production 100 times per day
Our highest value is to satisfy the customer through early and continuous delivery of valuable software. — The Agile Manifesto
CI/CD and DevOps are near the top of many organizations list of changes to make in the coming year. Any yet many in those organizations don’t fully understand what they mean and more importantly why a company would want to do them. The idea of deploying to production many times per day every time a developer checks in code seems risky and disruptive. How will our users adapt to so many changes? How do we achieve quality where there is no testing phase and no concept of regression testing? Where is the benefit to the business and how is planning carried out in such rapid paced environment?
This session will answer those questions and more. Through a series of focused exercises and lecture, Cheezy will build out an understanding of Continuous Delivery and DevOps as well as help you understand what it takes to achieve the seeming impossible goal of delivering value continuously. If you’ve heard of these practices and yet aren’t quite sure what they mean, then this session is for you. If you think you understand them but want to check your understanding, then join in to hear from this expert in the field.
Jeff "Cheezy" Morgan has been teaching classes and coaching teams on agile and lean techniques since early 2004. Most of his work has focused on the engineering practices used by developers and testers. For the past few years he has experienced great success and recognition for his work in the area of Continuous Delivery. He is based out of Toronto and focused on bringing Industrial Logic's passion for technical excellence, modern agile, and lean product management to the Canadian market.
