Pinterest is graciously hosting this month's meetup.

!Please do note the location change Even though Google say Pinterest HQ is 651 come to 808 Brannan!

There's some (relatively) exciting news to be announced at this meetup based on some very helpful feedback that has been received.

Also it looks like we now have a good stream of hosts so the meetup will rotate a bit more frequently which should hopefully bring in new people, new ideas and new talks (more on that at the next meetup).

Thanks again to Andrew & Anna and everyone at CarbonFive for hosting last month and to Erik and Andy for their talks!

Talks:

Pete Hastie, a backend developer at Bleacher Report, will talk about GenStage and how it's revolutionized the way we consume analytics data at b/r. He'll also be speaking next month at the Erlang & Elixir Factory SF.

Jason Chen, founder of slab.com, a new platform for team knowledge, will share how they built and scaled their realtime collaboration feature using Agents and GenServer.

Control flow in Elixir - Going back to basics, Anna Neyzberg will cover how control flow in Elixir differs from most modern imperative languages. We will dicuss how/when to use pattern matching, multiclause functions, conditional expressions and loops. This talk is great for people who are just starting to learn Elixir.

Conferences:

Erlang & Elixir Factory SF (http://www.erlang-factory.com/sfbay2017/) - Early bird tickets available and there still might be open spots to volunteer (http://ow.ly/nwxC307HYEp).

Empex (http://empex.co/) - This takes place in NYC and CFP has opened 1/17. Here's an overview of how speakers are valued at Empex (https://medium.com/empex/to-our-speakers-92fd4784dbdd)
