Walk lengths 10 to 12miles/19km Walk lengths 9 to 11miles/18km approx.

A set of three hikes based from the coastal town of Minehead. The town lies close to the Exmoor National Park. The hikes are a mixture of coastal, woodland and hilly moorland hikes.

Hike 1 – Dunkery Hill from Wheddon Cross (Saturday 16 April)
11Miles, 18km. Meet at 10am for the hike to start at 10.15am in the free council car park at Weddon Cross off the B3224, TA24 7EP.

Hike 2 – Porlock to Hurlstone Point and North Hill (Sunday 17 April)
11 Miles, 18km. Meet at 10am for the hike to start at 10.15am along Bay Road, Porlock, Minehead, TA24 8NJ. Roadside street parking. Porlock is 5miles or 11minutes by car from Minehead via the A39.

Hike 3 – Minehead to and North Hill (Monday 18 April) 9Miles, 14km.
Meet at 10am for the hike to start at 10.15am outside the entrance to Minehead heritage railway station, Warren Rd, Minehead, TA24 5BG. There is a council run pay & display car park adjacent to Minehead Station.

The order of the hikes or specific hikes may be changed due to adverse weather at the discretion of the hikes leaders.

Accommodation & Meeting

Cost for weekend £40 & includes three guided hikes with two hike leaders for three days (accommodation, travel & personal expenses not included) but there are no hidden extras & this gives you the chance to stay according to budget or requirements.

To pay for the trip please contact the organizer (Colin) for bank transfer details & you will be marked as paid. Only those paid will be guaranteed a spot on the hikes. Hike cost is no-refundable unless someone else wants a spot.

Everyone will be encouraged to arrange their own accommodation, either camping, Youth hostel, or B&B. We will get together after the hikes in the evening for food & drink socials which will be around Minehead centre (A WhatApp group will be set up).

There are number of sites for B&Bs or hostel bookings, suggested you find accommodation as close to Minehead centre as possible. Some of you may want to meet up Friday night before the three day hikes.

Transport will be by car sharing & a number of the group will have cars & there is a public transport option via train from London Paddington to Taunton & then bus to Minehead.

Please bring a packed lunch & water for each hike. Each hike should finish about 5.00pm & include a 30 min snack lunch stop, however the time may be earlier or later than this depending on weather & pace.

BE AWARE THESE HIKES ARE OVER UNDULATING MOORLAND & TRAVERSING SOME OF THE HIGHEST POINTS ACROSS EXMOOR, PLEASE ENSURE YOU ARE HAPPY WITH THIS.

Walking Safety: Walking is a great way to keep fit & generally very safe; however it does contain an element of risk. Before going on any of these walks you need to be reasonably fit & be prepared to be responsible for your own safety. You should wear appropriate clothing such as proper walking shoes (not trainers), warm & wet weather clothing & carry sufficient food & water.
