We are a critique and support group for people who are or aspire to be professional screenwriters. Group size: 4 or 5.
Our expectation is that you will:
1. Submit ~10 pages of new work a week - mostly feature length screenplays, or television shows 2. Review the submissions of the other 3 or 4 writers before the meetings 3. Attend weekly sessions for in-person exchange of feedback
We're using Meetup to recruit members. This is not a casual, drop-in group. Membership is only available when there is an open chair.
A good rule of thumb is that you should plan to finish a feature in 10-15 weeks, and miss no more than two meetings.
We do not tend to read aloud, although we're flexible.
The feedback is direct and sincere. A typical discussion runs about 40 minutes per submission.
We currently meet at 1:30 pm on Friday in downtown Escondido. We have some flexibility in scheduling to accommodate new members, but it would be ideal if that fits your schedule.
You appreciate feedback in improving your latest project. You can make use of objective criticism. And sometimes the other kind.
Besides your intention to write screenplays, your individuality, your perspective, is what we want most. Obviously you must be willing to share your opinion in a group setting, too.
When you complete a screenplay, we can help you put together a table reading.
