  • Essex Web Developers Meetup - Side Project Show & Tell

    The United Brethren Pub

After Mike Gatward's seminal(!) "Learning to Launch" talk in March we all committed (I think) to work on a side project in time for a "Show & Tell" at the next Meetup in April. That proved to be a bit of a challenge so we're moving the Show & Tell to this event to allow a little more time. So please join us to talk about a side project you are/have worked on even if it's just at the idea stage. It doesn't have to be web related, anything that involves code is of interest to the group! Don't have a side project? No worries, you are most welcome to come along and I'm sure it will be a great place to find some ideas. Or just listen to what others are working on, we look forward to seeing you. What is a "side project"? Anything coding related you are working on in your own time, it could be some tooling to speed up your development workflow, it could be a little web app you are building... • PHP Essex Meetup - Learning to Launch with Mike Gatward

    The United Brethren Pub

(This talk was moved from February ask Mike was unable to deliver the talk then due to illness.) Mike Gatward will be presenting Learning to Launch – Stop failing. Start launching. Based on the eBook of the same name by Fred Rivett and Mike Gatward (https://learningtolaunch.co/). Here's the introduction to the eBook upon which Mike's talk is based: After years failing to launch a number of different side projects we finally decided something needed to change. We challenged ourselves to launch six projects in six months. It would be a way for us to rapidly learn what we were doing wrong, and what we needed to do to fix it. Twelve months on, we've now got a total of 7 launches under our belt and we've learnt a lot.
