Please note that we are at a new location!
The Mist browser has entered public beta. The light client is now in a public test phase. Besides those points, this meetup we will look at the Swarm protocol, specified in a series of papers called the "orange papers". The purpose of Swarm is to build an incentivised decentralised storage for static data.
1) General Introduction
A general overview of the ethereum project.
What are its aims? How does it work? Who is behind it? How does the release process work? What happens now?
• Mist public beta (demo)
• Light client public beta
• The DAO HF and withdrawal procedure
3) Swarm: Decentralised Storage
For a DApp to be truly decentralised, the code and assets of the application must also be distributed in a decentralised manner. Also many DApps will need to distribute user generated data, that is too big to be suitable for the blockchain. To avoid relying on altruism, there must be a mechanism to incentivise nodes to store data.
This is where Swarm comes in: a incentivised decentralised storage for static data, where DApps can look up the content behind a given hash.
Afterwards feel free to chat with other cryptocurrency enthusiasts about ethereum or whatever else you find interesting.
