With the DAO Disaster being a thing of the past, the excitement for ICOs (Initial Coin Offerings) has returned to the ethereum world with many projects raising ether worth millions of dollars within minutes.
This meetup we'll take a look at recent, current and upcoming ICOs as well as the progress of some of the older ones. In addition there will be a short overview of the changes in the EIP-150 Hardfork.
1) General Introduction
A general overview of the ethereum project.
What are its aims? How does it work? Who is behind it? How does the release process work? What happens now?
2) Overview of the EIP-150 Hardfork
Ever since the first day of Devcon ethereum has been the target of a series of DDos Attacks. While many attacks could be countered with client improvements, some of them required a protocol change: the EIP-150 Hardfork, which takes place October 17th. This talk will give a brief overview of the changes
3) Main Presentation - The Age of ICOs
In the last month, we have seen several ICOs in the ethereum space that raised millions of dollars worth of ether in the span of a few minutes (e.g. iconomy, firstblood, singular). Many other ICOs are expected to happen in the months to come. In this talk we'll take a look at the amounts raised, the team and the value propositions of recent and upcoming ICOs as well as a look at the implementation status of some of the older ICOs (like digix, augur or maker).
Afterwards feel free to chat with other cryptocurrency enthusiasts about ethereum or whatever else you find interesting.
