Movie Night with Discussion & Food: The Moral Roots of Liberals & Conservatives

  • Jun 25, 2014 · 6:30 PM
  • Paula & Ben's Home

Psychologist Jonathan Haidt studies the five moral values that form the basis of our political choices, whether we're left, right or center. In this eye-opening talk, he pinpoints the moral values that liberals and conservatives tend to honor most. After this 17 minute video, we will engage in an insightful and introspective discussion that will help us understand the moral motivations of both liberals and conservatives.

Join us for a great meal, and a short video with discussion led by Wes Fornès. We will look into the deeper and more introspective questions in life. The goal of the night is to be inspired and motivated to pursue meaningful virtues in our everyday lives.

*Vegan soup served @ 6:30pm

*Video/Discussion starts @ 7:30pm and ends @ 9:00pm

Here's a good article on how conservatives and liberals differ on obedience and how that impacts political/social movements.

To quote Rollo May, "The deeper one goes into one's own experience (let us say, in confronting death, or experiencing love, or in the elemental relations in the family), the more one's experience has in common with similar experiences of others…" Whether Mormon or Christian, Conservative or Liberal, welcome life's challenge to resolve polarity.
