  • Losing I, Finding We

    Asheville Friends Meeting House

“Losing I, Finding We” will be presented by Christian Hayden at the Sunday, July 19, 2020 meeting of the Ethical Humanist Society of Asheville, 2:30-4:00 PM by Zoom videoconference. Zoom connection info at EHSAsheville.org. All are welcome to attend. “Losing I, Finding We” is an exploration of attachment through the prism of Ethical Culture. Ethical Culture does not have explicit tenants or commandments, but it does ask of its members/followers to commit to building ethical relationships, because we as a community feel they are imperative to social justice and realizing a better world. At the same time, many of us struggle to invite intimacy in our personal, romantic, and communal lives. Why is that? What ideas might lead us to better meet our charge in the future? Christian is a full-time facilitator, very part-time poet, photographer and strives to be a 24/7 humanist. He spent a year in Ghana with the Humanist Service Corps and was awarded the Mossler Fellowship in 2016. Christian is a member of the Philadelphia Ethical Society, Future of Ethical Society, and is an Ethical Culture Leader in training. The Ethical Humanist Society of Asheville endeavors to nurture the capacity and responsibility of human beings to act in their personal relationships and in the larger community to help create a better world. We are inspired by the ideal of working to create a more humane society, recognizing each person’s worth and dignity, and helping to bring out the best in him or her. We are a member of the American Ethical Union and an affiliate of the American Humanist Association. We join together to assist each other in developing ethical ideas and ideals, to celebrate life’s joys, support each other through life’s crises, and to cultivate ethical behavior in our community.
