Too often there is plenty of talent, but not budgets, invested in technology to create the awesome artworks made possible by the magical automation of information design via programming tons of de-identified available data. Probably the majority of IT / programmers work in data-rich environments. I'm sure there are lots of creative ideas for transforming information into art-like mediums, whether visual or otherwise. However there is very little allowance for the people most familiar to those data streams to transform that information into art. Meanwhile marketers and program developers want to get involved in making a splash with new technology to a variety of audiences. Is there a strategy to convince organizations that their de-identified data is also a resource for exciting artistic marketing platforms? Is it worth paying to develop?

Art in this sense is data-driven, associated with major institutions, localized. All conditions that exist in Eugene.
