Cranston Greek Festival 2013

This is an event for the whole family to come and enjoy Greek culture, food, pastry, and live music! Friday, Saturday, and Sunday! Rain or shine, under the big tents.

The Cranston Greek Festival is a 3 day event to celebrate Greek food and culture. It is held at the beginning of September each year at the Annunciation Church on 175 Oaklawn Ave in Cranston RI.

So come on out to what is the only place in Rhode Island where you can get some really good, Greek home cooking, at a Greek Church Festival! Uncles, aunts and grandmothers prepare all the food for the festival. Everything is homemade. The dishes are made on site, the pastries are prepared by mom's (with their secret recipes), and the kids will dress up in traditional costumes and dance for us all. We will get together and do a Zorba dance for RI to see.

So join us for a fun night, Greek style. OPA!

It was very Grikky! Great food, the largest attendance for our group since the festival last year. A total blast. Bravo to Silvi who learned how to dance the kalamatiano! And a shout out to our new members Sue (Portugal) and Metello (Italia). The group is getting bigger including more countries, and yet, Greek food always seems to bring us all together and seem to make it intimate. Thank you all for sharing this cultural day with me. YA MAS!

Parking shuttle every 10 minutes from Cranston West High School between 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on Friday. Otherwise, per Niko....

Peter, parking has been an issue from the very first festival. This is why it is important that we all have our cell phones in order to find the group at the event.

Where is it recommended to park?

Metello, it's just like any festival in Italy, park as close as you can. Be careful and read the signs.

I am refereeing a soccer match Friday and will arrive at 6 PM. I will do my best to save a table for us in an area where I can place our EU table flag and be highly visible. My mobile is[masked]-3600. Save it in your mobile as Niko EuroProvidence if you do not have me in as a contact already. Word to the wise, stock up on Greek pastries because there is nowhere in RI that sells baklava, kataifi or galaktpoboureeko.

Parking is going to be an issue. Shuttles are going from Cranston West High School, per a sign on Park Avenue I saw this morning.
