The granite towers of Torres del Paine (Towers of Paine) soar vertically for many hundreds of metres above a the wild, remote and astonishingly beautiful Patagonian steppe. Spectacular views of the iconic towers can be enjoyed from various lookouts along the world class trek known as the 'W' due to the rough shape of the route when view on a map. This famous trek takes at least 5 or 6 days to really appreciate the fantastic landscapes and trekkers need to be fit enough to carry a strong tent, a warm sleeping bag and enough food for several days.
Are you up for the challenge? Our idea is to plan a small group visit for February 2017 as this is the best time of year to go. Map
A possible plan could be as follows:
18 Feb - meet in P Natales
19 Feb - day preparing kit hire, bus tickets, permits & provisions in P Natales.
20 Feb - transport to Torres park & trek in to camp at Refugio Lago Pehoe.
21 Feb - trek to Refugio Grey
22 Feb - trek back to Refugio Lago Pehoe & continue to Campamento Italiano.
23 Feb - trek up and down Valle del Frances then continue to camp at Hosteria las Torres
24 Feb - easy trek to Campemento Torres for an early night.
25 Feb - sunrise at Torres del Paine lookout then trek back to park entrance and take bus to P Natales.
26 Feb - fly to Santiago and connect with onward flight.
