If you are involved in events, growing communities offline or online and of any shape or size, please come along and listen to talks by industry experts, network, make new connections and get inspirational advice.

The second Thursday of every month, we will have two talks by well-known event professionals & communiy builders covering a range of topics including event planning, tools/apps, sponsorship, ticketing, marketing, venues, building communities and lots more. There will also be plenty of time for networking over drinks and nibbles to ensure everyone comes away with lots of new ideas to inspire better events.

Dublin

October is one of my favorite months, time for the leaves to turn and the fire to go on! It's also a great month to brush up on your skillset and what better way than to join us and learn how to sell out your next event. We have two stellar speakers for you to help you do just that! Our first speaker is the incredible Emily Ross, founder of Inkvine Consulting and one of the top ten marketers in Ireland. Our second speaker of the evening is Mark Scully founder of Learn Inbound (more information coming soon!). Seem's simple right? Building your database and keeping them connected is critical to get, maintain and grow sales. In this unmissable talk learn the fundamentals in how to communicate with your community through email marketing and get them to take action. About Emily: Emily Ross is a technologist, writer, speaker and entrepreneur. She is founder of Inkvine Consultants, an international growth partner for data-driven technology firms. She has held a number of senior roles over the past 15 years with the likes of WhatClinic and UNICEF Ireland. As Marketing Director of WhatClinic, she helped increase non-brand organic traffic by 5 million over a four year period. AT UNICEF, she managed world-class partnerships with IKEA, Aer Lingus and P&G. She holds multiple qualifications in Marketing, PR, Event Management and Analytics. The first company she founded was an experiential marketing firm called Brightspark, providing high risk, high impact additionals to the corporate events and film sector. Clients included Google, Vodafone, Channel 4, RTE, MCD, the Mansion House, Four Seasons, Ovation as well as many PR and film studios. Emily helped co-found profit organisation SportsTech Ireland in 2016, to help attract foreign direct investment to Ireland. She has written for Image Magazine and the Gloss and is a regular speaker and lecturer. Tom believes in the power of community and feels that it’s my duty to help existing communities grow while fostering new ones. Tom is currently working as a Systems Engineer and D&I Advocate at Riot Games. Previous roles include; Build Engineer at Demonware (Activision), System Automation Engineer at Oracle and Java QA Engineer at Sun Microsystems. He is also a Docker Captain and have been involved in expanding the Docker community in Dublin since 2014. Vicky Lee & Aphra Kerr- Vicky and Aphra will be talking about the ReFiG-funded project, which has focussed on three initiatives: Firstly, surveying and studying existing gamejam events in Dublin, Limerick and Cork in Ireland to see who attends and why; secondly, establishing a network of people interested in running diversity related game events in Ireland and thirdly, organising introductory female friendly beginner game making workshops in Dublin and Galway. About Vicky - Vicky Twomey-Lee is a coder, tech event organiser, mentor, advocates diversity in tech and most recently joined the Dublin Maker team as their Maker Advocate as part of MADE, a 2-year SFI-funded programme hosted by DCU. She is on the "Refiguring Innovation in Digital Games" project with Dr. Aphra Kerr and helped organised diversity in games workshops in Dublin and Galway. @whykay || https://eventgeek.ie || http://dublinmaker.ie About Aphra - Dr. Aphra Kerr is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at Maynooth University. Aphra is currently co-principle investigator on the ‘Refiguring Innovation in Digital Games’ project. She has served for three years as elected chair of the Communication Policy & Technology section of the International Association for Media and Communications Research (IAMCR) and in 2016 she received a Distinguished Scholar award from the international Digital Games Research Association (DiGRA) for contributions to the field of game studies. She currently serves as an expert adviser to the Pan European Games Information system (PEGI) and was the founder of www.gamedevelopers.ie. Aphra has written two books on the digital games industry, including Global Games: Production, Circulation and Policy in the Networked Age, Routledge, 2017, and she co-edited The International Encyclopedia of Digital Communication and Society, Wiley-Blackwell, 2015.
