What we're about

We are always looking to make new friends for regular cards and/or board games in our home. We are happy to host, have a nice table for gaming and are social drinkers if people are interested in drinks (non smokers please). We are open to playing a lot of different games but our favorites are cards (Phase 10, Pinochle, Hearts or Spades, trump style card games), co-op board games (Pandemic, Gloomhaven, Mysterium, Betrayal at House on the Hill, etc), competitive board games (Ticket to Ride, Killer Bunnies, etc) or even trading card games like Magic the Gathering if it's casual and sealed style where everyone is on equal footing. Warning, we tend to be irreverent and adult humored. Please do not be easily offended.

Pirate Series: Featuring "Shiver Me Timbers" (Deluxe Edition)

5006 132nd St SE

Pirate Series continues... featuring "Shiver Me Timbers" (Deluxe Edition)

Shiver Me Timbers is a highly thematic, strategic sandbox game set in the Golden Age of Piracy. It uses a tactical card-based combat system combined with strategic planning to use your available actions to optimal effect and become the most notorious pirate of your era.

Each play will vary as you randomly reveal five of ten vastly different victory conditions: One game, you'll be rescuing your lost family, the next you might have to conquer enemy ships and fortresses, or face the hideous Kraken.

This unique & inventive pirate game showcases modular ship mini's that physically transform as you upgrade sails (speed), cannons (attack), and cargo (storage capacity), with a variable and vast world to explore and conquer.

We ask that you please review this video tutorial of "Shiver Me Timbers" prior to arriving on Tuesday:

(Note- the first 14 minutes is general tutorial, the rest is playthrough)

While we're happy to teach and assist, the more players are familiar with the game the better the gaming experience for all, and the potential to play multiple times during Game Night.

Snacks will be provided, as well as light beverages (water/tea/coffee). Please feel free to bring your favorite snacks and/or beverages. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, BYOB.

NOTE: The location of this event is NEAR the address provided below. Please expect the actual address to be emailed to you after you RSVP.

Note: If you are new, have chosen to RSVP, but haven’t connected with the host (Len Maio) 3 days prior to the event, we’ll politely move you to ‘not going’ if there are others on the wait list.

Zombicide: Black Plague for the Fully Vaccinated

Location visible to members

Wednesday, Feb. 2 is another ‘Serious Board Game Night,’ featuring Zombicide: Black Plague.

Zombicide: Black Plague is a cooperative, dice-chucker of a dungeon-crawler, with players working together to fend off the hordes of zombies ravaging our village. Easier to learn than Cthulhu Wars, but still takes a couple hours.

Basically, Zombicide: Black Plague is a game with a very rudimentary ‘gain skills/RPG’ element. We’re really just killing zombies, trying to reach an objective(s).

Serious Game Nights feature games in which: a) the average playtime is around or exceeds 3 hours, and/or b) the rules are more complex and require a lot more strategy and concentration than casual social events permit.

It’s not a complicated game. There are multiple videos on ‘How to Play’, but anything longer than this one (9 minutes) is a waste of time:

Moderate consumption of alcohol is permitted at serious board game night. Food and drinks in general are not allowed ON the game table as many of these games are VERY expensive. We’ll have side tables for food and drinks.

Non players (visitors) are allowed to come and watch the game being played if they are interested in the game but there were not enough spots available for them to play.

Obviously, we AREN’T meeting at Paine Field. The host will text you the address of the actual location once RSVPs are confirmed.

Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination is required for this event.

Note: If you RSVP for this event and haven’t connected with the host (Michael) 48 hours prior to the event, we’ll politely move you to ‘not going’ if there are others on the wait list.

"Pencil First" Series: "Floriferous", "Herbaceous", and "Sunset Over Water"

"Pencil First" Series is a very special game night. It includes three games- "Floriferous", "Herbaceous", and "Sunset Over Water", created by the Steve Finn team of Pencil First Games.

These are simple but elegant, beautiful, and deceptively clever games.

This event will likely only be held twice in 2022, so sign up while you can.

We ask that you please review the many tutorial and playthrough videos on BGG.com and youtube of these three games.
