Intro to Archery with free lessons.

I will host an Intro to Archery Class and if you have your own equipment please bring it. All skill levels welcome. Kids and guests welcome.

I think a dessert or snack pot luck would be good at this time.

Club memberships will be available at the end of the event, no pressure to join though.

Folks if you have bows of any size please bring them. I will bring my 3 loaner bows to share and everybody will get my 3 minute lesson and a chance to shoot. Kids and leashed dogs welcome. Bring bug spray it will be outdoors. Heavy rain will cancel. This will be a free event.

At this time I will go over which bows to buy and we will get a good idea on your size and strength. Bows are like buying shoes, they don’t fit everybody. I suggest folks start with a recurve bow and learn the basics if they just want to shoot. You can be outfitted with arrows for less than $200 with quality intro level gear. This would be gear you might find at a summer camp or a school. Like with all sports the sky is the limit if you want to go crazy. If you want to hunt you may want a compound bow. That is best set up by an archery pro shop, not a department store.

Direction are off slightly, club is located on Route 57 on the Agawam/Southwick line, there is a dirt road with a gate. There is a red apple sign with Agawam Bowmen on it at the road. Drive in and look for us. [masked] is the info line, but nobody will answer it.

Bows come in right and left handed, here is a test to tell which eye controls you’re aiming. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIVayKuQGG4

The range is outdoors and it was raining pretty hard with high winds. I will try to reschedule soon. Tom

We'll attend the next intro session. Tried to make it but had to turn back due to the rain.

I'm going to have to "bow" (pardon the pun) out after all, unfortunately. I've been fighting getting sick, but it looks like I've lost the fight. Hopefully I will meet you all and get to shoot another time!
