The Dallas Examined Life Philosophy Group Monthly Meetup

  • Dec 12, 2013 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Of the topics which have fascinated philosophers, poets, artists, scientists, and laymen alike, few have done so more than love. There's something mysterious about love. Perhaps that's why nobody seems to have come to any conclusions about what exactly love happens to be. It is for this very reason that we turn a critical eye towards this very topic. Even if we cannot come to some definite conclusions, perhaps we can come to better understand our own stance on what it means to us on a more personal level.

1. What is love in a general sense?
2. What is love in specific terms? IE: How do we differentiate between "I love icecream", "I love my best friend", and "I am in love with my wife"?
3. Is love an emotion, a craving, an action, or perhaps all of the above?
4. It has been said that "love makes fools of us all". What is the relationship between reason and love? Is there one?

Location and Price:

This meetup will be just outside the cafe inside Half-Price Books (near the fish tank) There is also a suggested (but by no means mandatory) $2 donation to help cover the cost of maintaining this meetup group.
