Except is a cooperative consisting of 30 multi-disciplinary scientists, innovators and developers who collaborate in finding pioneering solutions for a sustainable society since 1999. Four times a year we organize a Grid Night, a night during which we bring together progressive thinkers from the business world, creative industries and governments alike. We set a socially inspiring theme and organize a special programme that stimulates people to think and debate. Our goal for the Grid Nights is making new connections between parties, provide new and progressive insights and create an exciting night for selected front-runners.

Over the years, the Grid Nights have been organized in different locations throughout the Netherlands, with themes ranging from well-being, circular economy, the city of the future, biodiversity and monetary systems. The nights aim for intellectual debates, participation of all attendants and connecting people in a special setting. We only partially fill the night with a pre-set programme, so as to leave plenty of room for personal interactions.

Every Grid Night is supported with drinks and bites of impeccable sustainable origins. After the programme, there is time for drinks and dancing as we will also take care of the music. Except organizes the entire night, possible support from the location is welcome, but not necessary. The Grid Nights are a non-commercial activity, English-spoken and usually free of charge. If we ask an admission fee, this is purely to cover the costs of used materials.
