This is a support group for those struggling to keep weight off, or who want proper straightforward nutrition advice which does not come from the forever changing media or the self interested food and diet industry.
It is a group to look at all matters around food- why do only 2% of dieters keep their weight off in the long term?
More importantly, how do you become part of the 2% who succeed rather than be in the 98% who fail? Why do you plateau at a certain weight and cant get below that no matter what?
why is most exercise actually not efficient at burning fat? And what type actually is proven to help in weight loss? Why does stress fatten and pleasure flatten? Why does your digestive system have to be in good shape to lose weight and be healthy?
Do we really need supplements?
What role does inflammation play in chronic health conditions such as cancer, heart disease, arthritis, depression, strokes etc?
What IS healthy eating ? low fat or no fat?, are artificial sweeteners OK?, How do you stop sugar cravings? Food really DOES matter, there is a direct link between the quality of the food we eat and whether or not we are a healthy weight, and whether or not we are healthy. If food is required to keep us alive, it is nonsense to think that the quality has no impact on our health. The food industry is not interested in our health, it is only interested in what sells and makes a profit- usually the highly processed, high sugar items, nutrient deficient ‘food like substances’ which are becoming further and further removed from the diet we were designed to eat.
If you care about your health, it is in your best interest to know what effect certain foods have on your body, your moods, your energy levels, and your chances of developing ill health conditions as you get older.
So lets get back to basics and get real about food, but in a fun and informative way. A way which inspires you to eat better, which in turn makes you feel better, thus making it much easier for you to eat that way for life. It is not about lack or depriving yourself. It is just about re educating your mind and your tastebuds and making informed food choices.
