Give your career new inspiration during your stay in Belgium and join the 8th edition of the Vlerick Expat Event at Vlerick Campus Brussels on 14 December!

The keynote address ‘The Power of Focus - How to use focus for competitive advantage’ given by Antonio Nieto-Rodriguez will certainly give you food for thought as it sets a vibrant, congenial tone for this unique expat evening.

    About the keynote speech:
In 7 seconds (max), our brain decides what to pay attention to. What’s more, our brain is lazy! It loves topics that take less effort to focus on − easy tasks, simple thoughts, activities that deliver quick satisfaction…

When we apply this knowledge to the world of business, we find that, at any given moment in an organisation or event, 50% of the people are physically present but their mind is somewhere else. Furthermore, 30-40% of an employee’s time in the workplace is spent on unplanned interruptions (and then on restoring the loss of mental focus these have caused).

And to make matters even worse: if the organisation’s strategy and priorities are not clear, or too broad, or too numerous, the number of unfocused employees multiplies exponentially.

This is the alarming case for many of the organisations that Antonio Nieto-Rodriguez − author of The Focused Organization and an expert in strategy execution and project management − sees around us.

Join him on 14 December to learn how you can transform your company into a focused organisation and use focus as a key competitive advantage.

The good news: “By becoming focused, employees will be significantly more engaged, and thus happier people in the workplace and in their lives.”
