“Winning slowly is the same as losing” - Bill McKibben (a pretty famous environmentalist, author and journalist). Technology exists to combat climate change however what will it take to get our leaders, businesses and citizens to act?

We want to prove to Bill that it doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom! Instead we want to use the principles of XDS to inspire Singaporeans to build a better world. Cheesy, right? But we really believe that all of us in XDS can make a positive impact towards the 2030 agenda for sustainable development.

However, we don’t think we can do this with XDS alone.

In 2020, XDS will be focusing our efforts on tackling issues related to sustainability by hosting a series of events that bring together people who care about this issue with experts in environmental policy and advocacy, social impact, and of course, data science.

To kick things off, we would like to know what you care about. So we will be running a workshop with you guys and these experts to talk about some of the areas that we might be able to influence. We will explore the problems that sit at the heart of these and consider how data science experiments could be used to imagine a better future. Once we know what we want to solve, we will unleash the full power of XDS!

We will be announcing the experts and topic areas over the next few weeks - stay tuned for updates. In the meantime, we would love to know if you are interested and if there were specific areas you would like for us to include - so drop us a note to say you are ‘in’ and what you care about. We can’t wait to get going.
